Your dental website gets visitors. Why does nobody book?

Traffic is rarely the problem. These are the eleven failures we find most often, in the order they cost you money.

We record a free five-minute audit for any clinic that sends us a URL, and we have now done a lot of them. The same eleven problems come up again and again — and almost none of them are about how the site looks.

1. It takes six seconds to load

The single biggest killer. On 4G, a typical Indian clinic site takes five to seven seconds to become usable. More than half of visitors are gone before your clinic name renders. Fix: compress images to WebP, remove the carousel, drop the page builder. If the theme is the problem, tuning will not save it.

2. There is no way to book without calling

A phone number in the footer is not a booking system. A significant share of dental research happens after 9pm, when calling is not an option. Fix: a WhatsApp button and a three-field form, visible without scrolling, on every page.

3. The form asks for ten things

Name, email, phone, address, treatment, preferred date, alternate date, how you heard about us, and a message. Every field is a reason to leave. Fix: name, phone, treatment. Everything else is a follow-up conversation.

4. The doctor is invisible

Patients are choosing a person, not a building. If your credentials are on a separate About page nobody visits, they are not doing any work. Fix: name, BDS or MDS, university, years in practice, DCI registration number, and a real photograph — on the homepage and on every treatment page.

5. Stock photography

A smiling foreign model in an unrecognisable clinic signals that you have something to hide. Fix: six honest photographs from a phone — reception, the chair, the sterilisation area, the team. They outperform any stock library because they answer the question the patient is actually asking.

6. No prices anywhere

Silence on cost does not start a conversation. It sends the visitor to a clinic that will tell them. Fix: honest ranges with an explanation of what moves them. Expect fewer enquiries and considerably more bookings.

7. One services page listing twelve treatments

It ranks for nothing and converts nobody, because it speaks to no one specifically. Fix: a dedicated page for each treatment that matters to your revenue, written around what that particular patient is anxious about.

8. Reviews are somewhere else

Your Google reviews are excellent and your website never mentions them. Doubt peaks at the moment of action. Fix: pull genuine reviews onto the page, next to the booking button, ideally from patients who had that specific treatment.

9. Nobody can find you

An address in the footer is not directions. Fix: an embedded map, the landmark people actually navigate by, parking information, and metro or bus proximity. In NCR this is a genuine objection, not a detail.

10. Nothing answers after hours

The enquiry arrives at 11:04pm and sits unread until 10am, by which point the patient has booked elsewhere. Fix: an AI assistant trained on your treatments, timings and pricing bands — or at minimum an auto-reply that sets an expectation.

11. It was built for you, not for the patient

The most common structural failure. The homepage opens with the clinic’s history and philosophy. The patient wants to know: do you do the thing I need, is it safe, what does it cost, how do I book. Fix: answer those four questions above the fold and put the history on the About page, where the small number of people who care can find it.

How to check your own site in ten minutes

Do this on your phone, on mobile data, not office wifi

  • Time how long until you can read something. Over three seconds is a problem.
  • Without scrolling: can you book? Is there a WhatsApp button?
  • Can you find the doctor’s qualification in under ten seconds?
  • Search your own site for a price. Any price.
  • Is there a page for your highest-value treatment, or one list of twelve?
  • Send it to someone who has never been to your clinic and ask what you do and what it costs. Their hesitation is your conversion rate.

Or send us the URL and we will record the five-minute version for you, free, whether or not you ever hire us.

Almost always speed, a missing booking path, or missing trust signals — credentials, real photographs, reviews and prices. Design quality is rarely the cause.

A well-built clinic site typically converts 3–8% of visitors into an enquiry. Under 1% means something structural is broken rather than needing tuning.

Only if it is genuinely answered quickly. An unanswered chat widget is worse than none. For most Indian clinics a WhatsApp button plus an after-hours AI assistant outperforms live chat.

A thirty-second clinic walkthrough and a short doctor introduction help considerably, because they answer the safety and legitimacy questions faster than text. Long production videos rarely earn their cost.

Check Google Business Profile insights. Plenty of views but few clicks means the listing is weak; plenty of clicks but no calls means the website is losing them.
